Australian flatback sea turtles in danger - sign petition to stop new industrial development

The world-class Kimberley is under immediate threat
December 17th, 2008

Please join the world's sea turtle conservation community and environmentalists in Western Australia in stopping a new LNG port and industrial hub in Australian flatback habitat on the northwest coast of Australia. Please go to The Wilderness Society website and sign the petition today.

With no further negotiations or scientific research, a long stretch of Kimberley coast will be given over to liquified natural gas (LNG) industrial development - threatening majestic humpback whales and numerous endangered species including dugong and Australian flatback turtles.

This remote and ancient place is close to my heart though it is on the other side of the world. I plan to travel there in March to see the port developments and the Australian flatback beaches and bring back photos and stories to share with Sea Turtle Restoration Project members and the world.
