CNN Video Shows More Oiled Sea Turtles in Gulf of Mexico

August 11th, 2010

Today CNN reported that more oiled sea turtles are being found in Gulf waters now than during the first three months of the BP oil spill. National Marine Fisheries Service sea turtle chief Barbara Schroeder attributed this to more sea turtle teams being on the water and good weather conditions. During the first 3 1/2 months, 236 oiled sea turtles were rescued. In the last 10 days, 204 have been rescued. See the report on CNN's website.

STRP is glad that more sea turtles are being rescued and that our advocacy efforts have resulted in adding more sea turtle rescue teams to the oil reponse and cleanup.
