One of Ms. Wharton's 4th grade writing assignments at St. Paul's Episcopal School in Mobile, Al is to have her students research an endangered species. "We were looking for a connection to our life on the coast, when we thought of the plight of sea turtle hatchlings. It took on greater significance after the oil spill damaged so many of our local beaches. We decided to raise money to adopt a nest by having a 'Turtle Cake Walk'. The entire 4th grade participates and each year we are amazed at the creative 'sea turtle' cakes that come in, and are equally amazed at the generous donations of our students, parents, and faculty."
This year, her class raised $1,493 for the Sea Turtle Restoration Project. Thank you, Lynn and the entire 4th Grade class for your dedication to sea turtles and the environment!
