President-elect Trump’s chief strategist and senior counselor, Steve Bannon, is a former executive chairman of Breitbart News. In August, Bannon stepped down from his role as executive chairman at Breitbart to join Trump’s campaign. Bannon and Breitbart have often been criticized for the news site’s racist, xenophobic and misogynist content.

Breitbart’s destructive stories have not been limited to the human realm; they have also taken aim at the animal kingdom. For example, a 2015 article titled Animals That Aren’t Delicious or Useful Deserve to Be Extinct details a list of animals that “deserve” to be extinct. Below are a few excerpts from the article:

“The VAQUITA, another kind of porpoise, can definitely die out. Sorry, but it just sounds like a Mexican hooker.”

As for all those ocean plants and weird insects, give me a break…biodiversity is just another word for weakness.

“I’m always telling friends to “go green.” What they don’t realise I mean is: eat a turtle.”

If you think that animals that aren’t delicious or useful DON’T deserve to be extinct, you can help Turtle Island Restoration Network continue the fight to protect endangered species by donating here.
