Turtle Island Restoration Network (TIRN) is an award-winning ocean conservation nonprofit organization with offices in California and Texas. For 30 years, TIRN has led the grassroots fight against extinction locally, nationally and internationally. We take on the big problems of the world’s oceans and watersheds — industrial fishing, climate change, pollution, and habitat loss — with a can-do attitude and highly motivated, passionate individuals.
TIRN seeks a part-time (approximately 10 hours per week) contract Grant Writer with experience applying for foundation-based funding opportunities. Experience with writing proposals related to environment, conservation, wildlife protection, endangered species, habitat restoration and climate change is preferred, but not required. Some familiarity with science, education, and/or capacity building grants is required.
The Grant Writer is responsible for developing letters of inquiry and grant proposals for foundation prospects. The Grant Writer will report to the Managing Director and work closely with the Development Manager to ensure deadlines and submission goals. Periodic meetings will be required during TIRN headquarters regular business hours (Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm, Pacific Time) in order to discuss ongoing grant projects, priorities, and funding opportunities. This contract position offers flexibility based on the person’s preference and availability. The role is responsible for helping meet and exceed annual fundraising benchmarks via institutional giving to support TIRN’s ocean and watershed conservation efforts.
This is a part-time, contract-based position. The first term of the contract is 6-months with the potential for additional terms.
Salary: Compensation is commensurate with experience, $20-$26 per hour.
Location: This is a remote position with regular check-ins via phone and video conference.
Hours: 10 hours per week.
