Julie Owen Hanft’s primary areas of focus are law and environmental education. After graduating from Barnard College and the University of Miami Law School, she worked as a federal law clerk and commercial litigator. She holds certificates in Natural History and in Environmental Science from the College of Marin. She also earned a Certificate in Sustainable Practices from Dominican University. She is a graduate of the Environmental Forum of Marin and a University of California Certified Naturalist. Julie founded the Marin Open Garden Project and Marin GreenPlay, a nature awareness summer camp. She joined Turtle Island’s board in 2014 and is also a member of Marin Clean Highways’ advisory board.
