Kristen is SPAWN’s Native Plant Nursery Manager. A lifelong affinity with plants, particularly California native plants, has kept her engaged in the work of growing for restoration projects on many different scales. She founded the Oaktown Native Plant Nursery in Oakland California, and ran it for 20 years. She was a Propagation and Botany Consultant at West Coast Wild and a Propagule Collector at the Marin Headlands Native Plant Nursery for the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy. Other experience includes Field Coordinator and Nursery Manager for the Friends of Sausal Creek, where she also served on the Board of Directors. She was a volunteer Rare and Unusual Plant Monitor for the East Bay California Native Plant Society and an Invasive Plant Removal Specialist and Special Project Contractor for the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Kristen is the veteran of many classes and workshops at the Jepson Herbarium, at the University of California at Berkeley and elsewhere, holds a master’s in Social Welfare from UC Berkeley and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Antioch College in Ohio.
