How do I “Adopt a Beach”?

Go to http://www.glo.texas.gov/adopt-a-beach/ for more information.

What areas are clean up options?

This program focuses on beaches around Galveston Island. We can also organize a neighborhood cleanup if your group is interested in helping the island interior.

What should I bring to a cleanup?

Please bring a 5 gallon bucket and a pair of reusable gloves to reduce waste and be more sustainable. We do have some supplies available if needed.

What should I wear to a cleanup?

Volunteers should wear closed-toe shoes, weather-appropriate layers, sunscreen or SPF-protective clothing, sunglasses and a hat. Be aware that there is little shade on the beach.

Can I complete community service hours by volunteering?

Yes! Please check in with your site captain before and after to record hours and signatures.

How do we cancel a scheduled group beach cleanup?

Please notify us at least 72 hours before cancelling.

Will rain cancel a cleanup?

In general, beach cleanups are all weather events. However, heavy rain, high tides, and high wind will cause us to cancel. Please watch the weather and keep in contact with your site captain before the event.
