Tree Planting Volunteer Day
December 11, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Help SPAWN plant native trees for healthy streams! We will be planting on our Roy’s Riffles restoration site along San Geronimo Creek, one of the most important habitats left for critically endangered Coho salmon on the central California coast.
Last summer SPAWN removed a 100-year-old dam (Roy’s Dam) that was obstructing Coho salmon from swimming freely above and below the dam, creating and restoring approximately five acres of creek habitat. On Saturday, December 11th, volunteers will help to further restore this area by planting mid and upper bank trees and shrubs including redwoods, coast live oaks, buckeyes, big leaf maple, blue elderberry, serviceberry, and hazelnut.
The event will run from 10am to 2pm. Volunteers are encouraged to bring water, sun/rain protection, and wear work clothes and close-toed shoes that have good traction. Meet across the street from 485 San Geronimo Valley Drive in San Geronimo. Parking is available through the gate.
