Join Turtle Island and California State Parks to Celebrate the Coast. In alignment with Coastal Clean up week, Turtle Island has pulled together amazing organizations from around the Bay Area to provide opportunities for families to connect with our coast. Celebrate the Coast with us and fall in love with your backyard again!
Who: Salmon Protection and Watershed Network was honored to host a naturalist training for the most amazing educators and community leaders in the Bay Area. Our partnering organizations for this coastal event sent representatives to our UC California Naturalist Certification this past June.
What: We spent 8 days immersed in natural world of Pt Reyes, brainstorming and organizing the most EPIC programming customized for people from our own communities. Our leaders have proposed to Celebrate the Coast with a diversity of programs including:
-Latino Outdoors Naturalist led hikes
-Hands on science experiments and exploration
-Nature journal building and art projects
-Leave No Trace Workshop as part of our FREE KAYAK Trials
-NEW! State Parks Junior Ranger Program
-Advocacy and Action Station to support Coastal Clean up Week
-Biologist on the Beach, exploring wildlife with microscopes
When: Saturday September 23rd, 2017 (stay tuned for a more detailed schedule)
Where: Tomales Bay State Park, Inverness. While the main event will be centered around Hearts Desire Beach, we will have different hikes ranging throughout the park.
We plan to have a few FREE chartered busses from the East Bay, San Francisco, and Sacramento thanks to our funders! More info will be provided here when available. For now email Catie@tirn.net if you have questions or would like to get your name on the top of the list.
Why: We are so lucky to have protected coastline here in the bay area, but those protections are not guaranteed forever. We hope that you come to this event and fall in love with our coast, and our state parks, just like we have. Join our growing community, dedicated to connecting and protecting our coast for generations to come. Come help us Celebrate the Coast!
