Turtle Island Restoration Network created the grant contest program in April 2020 to safeguard sea turtle nesting beach programs that were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to provide ongoing support to groups around the world that constantly face uncharted territory to ensure marine animals and their habitats are safeguarded, the grant contests inspire and mobilize citizens to participate in direct action for the ocean — the organization with the most public votes wins the grant!
