In April 2017, President Trump issued Executive Order 13795, “Implementing an America-First Offshore Energy Strategy,” seeking to reverse an existing policy that withdrew portions of the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) along the Atlantic and Arctic coasts from oil and gas development.
