The state of Connecticut has joined forces with a food trade organization to inform people about mercury levels and seafood choices. The Department of Health and the Connecticut Food Association recently launched its Healthy Fish Choice Program to help protect mothers, children and other people from harmful mercury ingestion.

This may be the first effort between a state and an industry group to partner on protecting residents from the impacts of mercury in seafood.

The federal FDA and the seafood industry continue to work against the tide of science and health by failing to test or label seafood for mercury content.
